Year 2005 saw three Bollywood stars tying the nuptial knot.

Zayed Khan and Fardeen Khan , the two eligible bachelors of Bollywood, married their longtime girlfriends in November and December.

But the biggest wedding of the year turned out to be Aamir Khan ’s marriage with Kiran Rao. This is Aamir’s second marriage after his divorce from his first wife Reena Dutta, whom he had married in 1986. Aamir and Reena have two kids – Junaid (15) and Ira (10).

Aamir had met Kiran Rao while she was assisting filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar during the making of Lagaan .

While the speculation of the relationship between Aamir and Kiran had been going on in the media for long, Aamir made it formal by tying the knot with Kiran on December 28 in a civil ceremony in Mumbai. The wedding was a very private affair attended by very few Bollywood celebrities including Rani Mukherjee and Kunal Kapoor .

After the wedding, Aamir and Kiran, along with family and friends, will leave for Panchgani, about 300 km from Mumbai, where they will usher in the New Year with a series of parties. There will be a reception at a hotel in Panchgani on December 29 and a grand gala on January 1, the New Year’s day.

Looking back more than a month, it was Bollywood’s cool dude, Zayed Khan, who exchanged marital vows with his longtime girlfriend Malaika Parekh in November.

Zayed’s marriage was the last wedding in Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan’s household. Zayed, who is known for partying hard, threw a couple of big parties days before his wedding.

Actingwise, Zayed did not have an eventful year, with his movies Shabd and Shaadi No. 1 doing poorly at the box-office.

Another Khan who got hitched this year was Fardeen, who married his childhood sweetheart Natasha Madhvani in a registered marriage on December 14. Natasha is the daughter of yesteryear actress Mumtaz.

The wedding was followed by an elegant, star-studded ceremony at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, where more than 1,400 people were in attendance. The most moving part of the wedding was emotional speeches given by Fardeen’s parents and Natasha’s parents after the two had exchanged vows.

After the wedding there was a huge reception on December 16.

Another positive development in the year was that the troubled marriage of actress Karisma Kapoor with Delhi businessman Sunjay Kapoor got back on the track. A rift had appeared in their marriage early this year on issues related to their six-month-old daughter Samaira’s passport.

However, Karisma and Sunjay settled their disputes in September this year. Following the settlement, the two went for a holiday in Goa, along with their daughter. Karisma returned to her sasuraal in Delhi in October.

Overall, it was a year of new beginnings for some Bollywood stars.
