Indians have reason to celebrate. Norah Jones, her half-sister Anoushka Shankar, and playback legend Asha Bhosle have made it to the list of Grammy nominees announced on Thursday.
Jones has been nominated in category 8 (pop collaboration with vocals) for the song ‘Virginia Moon’ from the album In Your Honour with the Foo Fighters.
Shankar and Bhosle have both been nominated in category 73 (best contemporary world music album) - Shankar for the album Rise and Bhosle for You Have Stolen My Heart - Songs From RD Burman’s Bollywood in collaboration with the Kronos Quartet.
Reacting to her nomination, Bhosle, 72, said, “The album has been nominated, now I just hope we win… that would be a reason to celebrate.”
