GUILTY

WORLI: Abu Salem’s confession has proved the popular notion that Sanjay Dutt has always been the black sheep in his family. His first accusation was in the ‘93 blasts. On one hand there was this politician father preaching righteousness and on the other we have Sanjay who is in jail.

Indians idolise Bollywood stars. And what they get instead is a gangster. Now, I know why he plays the role of the bad guy so well in his movies, it comes naturally.

Bollywood personalities have always been linked with the underworld but not to such an extent that they are directly involved in their processes. He was recently campaigning for his sister, Priya Dutt. Politicians have been involved in criminal activities but this is ridiculous. Who are we supposed to trust now; both the politicians and the film stars are out to get blood and votes.

Now I am just waiting for Munnabhai LLB to release so that I can see Sanjay defend himself in the courtroom. But if I were the judge he would surely be guilty.

ANDHERI: Abu Salem spoke of Sanjay Dutt, and the star was thrown back into the spot light. Over the past 15 years this has been the fourth time that Sanjay has been scrutinised and criticised beyond requirement.

While he has been accused of having connections with the underworld, we seem to have forgotten that Bollywood biggies have confessed to constant threat to life and career if they fail to toe the underworld line.

While Priya Dutt, the Congress nominee was busy campaigning, hoping to win, BJP was focussing on the Sanjay’s alleged proximity to underworld. Be it the drug addiction issue or his passion for cars, everything he does is criticised.

The authorities have used him as a scapegoat so that they don’t have to investigate other Bollywood stars and have thrown him to the masses for them to vent their disgust. There has to be more evidence than Salem’s confession.
