Model-actress Mona Chopra is making waves with her vivacious looks (a mix of Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra).
Although Mona made an inconsequential debut in the sex-comedy, Time Pass, which faded into oblivion, she instantly caught the fancy of Bollywood filmmakers.
Ironically, Time Pass made news because her conservative male co-star, Arjun Punj, refused to enact passionate smooching scenes with her.
Currently, chirpy Chopra has half-a-dozen movies on hand, including Dosti, which releases this week, and Red Swastika, where she plays a serial killer.
She broke the ice

What was Mona’s experience while shooting intimate, romantic scenes with co-star Bobby Deol in Dosti ? “Initially, Bobby was shy and withdrawn when it came to the cosy, lovey-dovey scenes.
But I took the initiative and broke the ice, and soon, we managed to add spice to the scenes. While Bobby plays a Casanova, I play a girl with a daily change of boyfriends. His character is so fidaa over me, that he dares to sneak into my room in a girls’ hostel for an overnight fling.�
Glamour puss
Mona is currently shooting for Red Swastika, directed by Vinod Pandey (he also directed Sins). “This is an author-backed role of a raunchy serial killer, who has flings with men and then brutally kills them.
Among the males I seduce, is a police officer, who is unaware of my femme fatale side,� she chuckles. Trapped in a glamour-groove, Chopra is cast as a sex guru in TLV Prasad’s Hindi flick, Naughty Boy, being shot in London.
Jolie, not Sherawat
Is she using the Mallika Sherawat formula of grabbing fame with bold, dare-bare roles? “No way,� she retorts. “My inspiration is not Sherawat, but Hollywood’s Angelina Jolie; I loved her performance in Gia, as a supermodel drug addict.
For me, skin-show is essential for my performances. But at the same time, I play a tough cop in a film directed by Amol Shetge, and a mushy romantic lead character in Game, which has the underworld as an undercurrent,� she counters.
Was it true that for the second time in her career, her male co-star (Kranti) did not wish to shoot scenes with her in the under-production Daastaan? “Yes that’s right. It’s quite crazy that some unprofessional male co-stars develop cold feet when it comes to hot lip-lock shots. Eventually, the scene loses its impact,� shrugs Mona, as she goes for her next shot.
