Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Kalyug is going to be a startling exposé of one of the biggest industries in the world – pornography.

It is going to be a first for Bollywood. Kalyug, a movie with a highly provocative theme and a story that stretches the human morality to limits, will not be a porn film, but a film on porn trade.

Mahesh Bhatt , the movie’s producer, says he got the idea to make Kalyug after reading an article about a newly married couple who were videotaped while making love in bed by the staff of a hotel where they had gone for honeymoon.

Mohit Suri , the movie’s director, says the film’s story was written after a meticulous research from journalistic data that included the PBS documentary ‘American Porn’, India Today’s column on desi porn and newspaper articles on honeymoon couples.

Kalyug stars Deepal Shaw as an earthquake victim who is sold into the porn industry and goes on to become a topnotch porn star. Emraan Hashmi plays the owner of a sex shop in Amsterdam.

Amrita Singh plays an influential woman who runs an international porn racket.

Newcomers Kunal Khemu and Smiley play a honeymooning couple who are videotaped.

Many parts of Kalyug have been shot at places like fetish shops and sex streets in Zurich.

Mahesh Bhatt says the intent behind making this movie was to expose the workings of the 56 billion dollar porn industry. The movie attempts to show how some helpless girls are being forced into this trade.
