Actor Naseeruddin Shah is back. And this time he’s wielding the director’s baton. What’s more - he’s making Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan literally don the greasepaint for his first film. Interestingly, the 55-year-old dancing queen plays the role of an underworld don in Shah’s directorial debut ”Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota.”

The most famous choreographer in the desi film industry is not new to the arclights. She has played two-bit roles before, including in Ram Gopal Varma’s ”Rangeela,” but Naseer’s film would perhaps be her first outing in a full-fledged role. Slated for an April 2006 release, ”Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota” is chock-a-block with seasoned actors like Irfan Khan, Paresh Rawal, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ayesha Takia and Suhasini. And Khan’s not the only choreographer-turned-actor in the film. “Choreographer Karla Singh is also acting in it,” says Shah. Given his background as a critically-acclaimed actor, audiences are expecting something unconventional now that Shah is at the helm of affairs. But much of the project is still under wraps and Shah is loathe to give out details.
