Trade sources say the film has, in its opening week, drawn huge audiences in India and abroad, specially the Gen next, who have been turning up in huge numbers in several parts of the country to watch the film.


The brilliant analogy drawn in the film between today’s youth and revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and Ramprasad Bismil, together with director Rakeysh Mehra’s unique style of storytelling has endeared the film to the young generation, most of whom seem to have identified with the portrayals of today’s youth in the film. That the audiences, specially in the big and metropolitan cities in the country, have been turning out in huge numbers to see ”Rang De Basanti” is evident from the film notching up record collectons in its opening week
