The Bachchans have cancelled a proposed trip to Mauritius for the Zee Cine Awards.

“Abhishek was supposed to perform, and I would’ve loved to watch him,� says Amitabh Bachchan. “My grandchildren, my daughter and Jaya were also supposed to join us in Mauritius. But Abhishek is down with viral flu.

The doctors have forbidden me from travelling, so we aren’t going. Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Rani can collect my award.�

Bachchan is all set to face the camera again, “Probably after March 20, with the shooting for my make-up man’s Bhojpuri film. Then I’ll shoot for Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Then, a couple of days set aside to shoot for ads. Then I go into Ravi Chopra’s Babul.�

Meeting producers

“I’m going to start meeting producers,� adds Bachchan. “I’ve said yes to Deepa Mehta’s Komagata Maru in principle. I’ve had several meetings with Rakeysh Mehra.

We’ve been discussing lots of ideas, projects involving both Abhishek and me. Soon, we’ll zero in on one. We might do Bhairavi, an extremely unique subject, with unique possibilities. The more we talk about it, the bigger it seems.�
