Even if his much-delayed film Jaane Hoga Kya starring Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu, Preeti Jhangiani and Rahul Dev is finally going to see the light of day on August 25, the producer of the film, Alok Shrivastava is livid. His anger is directed towards Bipasha, who is refusing to promote the film and is not responding to his calls either.
“She has been giving me problems from the start, says Shrivastava. “I was the first producer to sign her, even before her first film Ajnabee released. Yet she stayed away from the press conference that we organised to promote the film. She did not even bother to inform us about her absence. I spoke to her secretary Jatin who said that she was not interested in the release of the film. Obviously she is not confident about the product.
Has the film’s delay made her disinterested in the film? “I agree that I faced problems while making the film. But Bipasha is brilliant in it and I see no reason why she can’t promote it. Even a Salman Khan promotes a stale film like Shaadi Kar Ke Phas Gaya Yaar. Salman is a big star but he has gone out of his way to promote his film,â€? he says.
Bipasha herself did the dubbing for the film. “She insisted that she do the dubbing. In this film industry, your fate changes every Friday. I remember approaching Rahul Roy after Aashiqui when he was asking for Rs 40 lakh. Recently, he worked for one of my serials for Rs 5000, per day. Good and bad times are transient. At the end of the day you have to safeguard your producer’s interest,â€? he says.
Bipasha was unavailable for comment.
