Bollywood held its Global Indian Film Awards 2006 in Kuala Lumpur recently. Although the event kicked off with the premier of the film ‘Baabul’, Bollywood decided to kick some ball with Malaysian government officials.

The soccer match took place between the Indian team represented by Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail and Rohit Roy and the Malaysian officials. Actor John Abraham was also supposed to be a part of the match but he backed out.


The match took place at the stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil.

The Indian team fought the ageing Malasyian officials valiantly and even managed to net some goals, winning the much coveted trophy.

After the match, there was a charity fashion show and an auction. GIFA is shaping up to be one of the biggest film events of the year, bigger than this year’s IIFA (International Indian Film Awards).
