So, school and college exams are largely over, and Bollywood can bring on the masala. Here’s a look at the more prominent May releases:
36 China Town - May 5
Pros: Directors Abbas-Mastan know how to make thrillers; Kareena Kapoor’s looking good in the promos; the music is inevitably growing on us.
Cons: Shahid Kapoor and Kareena somehow just don’t work together; Also, this is Upen Patel’s debut.
Expectations: Not high, but the directors could spring an authentic surprise. Could just be worth a watch.
Tom, Dick & Harry - May 5

Pros: Huh? Well, maybe Jimmy Shergill still has some fans. Stop laughing.
Cons: A blind guy, deaf guy, and a mute, and a cast that never showed any potential. Kim Sharma stars, for God’s sake.
Expectations: None. Expect director Deepak Tijori to serve up extremely insensitive slapstick.
Tathastu - May 12

Pros: Sanjay Dutt, back after ages and looking intense as ever; interesting emotional plot about a father desperate to save his fatally ill son; Anubhav Sinha directs.
Cons: We can’t remember the last time we could sit through an Amisha Patel film.
Expectations: Reasonably high. Sinha directs Sanju well (remember Dus?), and the story of the son in need of a heart transplant is a powerful one.
