Wardrobe malfunction took on a new meaning at Lakme Fashion Week on Wednesday when walking down the ramp for designer Bennu Sehgall, model Carol Gracias’s halter-neck outfit came undone, and fell to her waist.

What got everyone buzzing was the professionalism with which Gracias handled the incident.
Her face betrayed her shock for a second, before she held the top back up, finished her walk, turned and left. When she appeared on the ramp later to model other outfits, the audience applauded.
“While we were doing the fittings, I had specifically asked Sehgall to tighten the strap of the halter neck, but when I wore it for the show, I realised it wasn’t done. My helper tried to use a pin, but the fabric was too thick and it didn’t go through, Gracias said. “I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life.
Sehgall said it was an accident. “She dealt with it beautifully and finished my show. I’m obliged, she said, adding that she had checked the garment after the show and nothing was wrong with it.

Model Bhawna Sharma blamed Sehgall. “We spend hours in fittings with designers before the show and they have all our measurements. After that, it’s the designer’s fault if a disaster like this happens, she said.
“Another girl would have been shattered, said Marc Robinson, the show’s choreographer. “After the show, I gave Carol a big hug. Not to console her, but to say that she’d done her job well. he said.
Gracias said she would never model for Sehgall again. “If it wasn’t her fault, I wouldn’t mind, but she’s not even serious about her own work, she said.
