The first Bollywood release of the year would be Emraan Hashmi starrer Jawani Diwani , a youth flick with romance, comedy and ample doses of skin exposure.
Emraan Hashmi had a pretty good 2005 with two of his movies Zeher and Kalyug doing well at the box-office. Now he begins this year with another promising movie – Jawani Diwani.
Directed by Manish Sharma, Jawani Diwani tells the tale of a man torn between his ambitions and emotions.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi , Celina Jaitley , Hrishitaa Bhatt , Mahesh Manjrekar and Tiku Talsania in main roles.
The movie tells the story of Mann Kapoor (Emraan Hashmi) an aspiring singer with huge ambitions of fame and riches. To realize his dream, Mann doesn’t mind resorting to manipulations, even if it means playing the game of love with Radha (Hrishitaa Bhatt), daughter of Umesh Jumani (Tiku Talsania), a very successful music company owner.
Radha’s father dotes on her. He would never go against her wishes. With Radha completely smitten with him, Mann gets the contract of his first music album to be brought out by Radha’s father’s company. In return, plans for Mann’s marriage with Radha are drawn.
Things going the way Mann wanted, it’s time for celebrations. So the young singer-to-be heads to Goa to party along with his friends.
Mann meets Goa beauty Roma (Celina Jaitley) and the two end up making love in what was supposed to be a one-night stand but turns out to be a lifelong commitment for Mann after the underworld don, Chappu Bhai (Mahesh Manjrekar) forces him to marry Roma.
Poor Mann finds himself in a fix. His marriage with Roma means the end of his dreams of becoming a singer. But Roma cuts him loose.
The two take divorce and Mann heads back to Radha to salvage his chances of future stardom. While the marriage date is being fixed, Mann begins working on his album.
Roma enters Mann’s life again. This time, she has been hired by Radha’s father as Mann’s co-star in music videos. As Mann and Roma work together, he realizes that he is beginning to fall in love with her. Every passing day makes Mann more possessive of Roma.
Now he has to choose between his stardom and his love. Which one would he choose?
Jawani Diwani has been shot in Mumbai and Goa. During the Goa schedule of the movie, Emraan and Celina chilled out together and shared many friendly and intimate moments. The intimacy did not continue after Goa, but glimpses of it could be seen in the movie.
Jawani Diwani is slated to release on January 6.
