Bollywood’s Zingy Zinta babe turns 31 today. On this special day we’ll take through some of Preity’s hottest quotes. Some are purely controversial, some are tangy head-turners. Some quotes will lambast you, and then there are those that will leave you feeling peppery and perky - just like the star herself.
So go ahead and get a taste of some of Preity’s best quotes ever…
On Rani completely denying her friendship with her…
“Rani is right when she says that our friendship was a media perception and nothing else. I don’t know why the media made us out to be like Siamese twins. We share a good working chemistry, that’s it. We don’t hang around or party together. Besides, we are too different to be friends.
Her retort to people who claim that Preity has too many opinions and strong ones too…
“I think its each to his own. It’s not that I create an opinion about everything, and even if I have an opinion on something I don’t speak to make a noise about it. I speak the truth. As a person I’m more honest and straightforward, somewhere down the line if it bothers someone I can apologize for that, but that’s the way it is. After sometime, I get headaches by being fake and diplomatic!
On actor accused of being fake all the time…
“Actors are not fake…they’re only trying to protect themselves. I don’t like to play a role off-screen and on-screen, I get paid only for acting on-screen. I am the way I am, I was like this when I was 2 years old, I’ll be like this when I am 60. At the same time, I’m not the kind who will pose a sweet face for people to see and then claw them behind their backs. Then when other people start being fake with you, one day you just get tired of the charade.
Her reaction to a chat show, where a few top-notch actresses made some cracks at her…
“They can take two more cracks, I have no problems. I have not seen that particular episode of the show, so I don’t exactly know. If they have to say something, they can say it in my face. I guess you’re talking about the Rani - Kareena chat show, all I can say is that Rani is very friendly to me when I see her; in fact she’s very sweet to me, so tell me how do I react to that and what can I say to this now?
One being stuck with the tags like - Bubbly, cute, sweet…
“First I got stuck with this ‘cute girl’ tag; then I tried really hard to change it, but finally I gave up. Obviously, there was no point in tossing away a tag I was identified with. From the beginning I’ve made a conscious effort to do films that are different; I want to play ‘characters’ and ‘roles’ as opposed to playing ‘the star - Preity Zinta’. I’ve never really been offered an ‘oomphy’ role. Maybe I just don’t project that.
