The much awaited Shahrukh Khan starrer DON, produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar, is scheduled for a Diwali/Eid release this year. The film which is currently under production will be distributed overseas by UTV. Farhan Akhtar’s version of DON will see SRK essay Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Priyanka- Zeenat Aman’s character, Arjun Rampal- Pran’s character, Kareena Kapoor- Helen’s character and Isha- Aparna’s character.
DON (1978) one of the earliest blockbusters of the 1970s, was a cop-robber plot about a gangster, played by Amitabh Bachchan. Interestingly, the essence of the film was clearly the wittily written dialogues that inspired an entire generation of moviegoers, one of them being “Don ko Pakadna Mushkil hi Nahi Namumkin Bhi Ha� which still resonates amongst his fans.
The most crucial factor that strikes one about DON is whether the Baadshah of Bollywood, the phenomenal Shahrukh Khan, would do complete justice to Amitabh’s character in the original flick DON. Also, would Farhan Akhtar concoct a compelling story such as this one?
Amitabh, unarguably India’s greatest superstar reigned during his era and has a massive fanfare till date.Having said that, even Shahrukh Khan who has several superhits to his credit, is doing a brilliant job and has also won many awards for his outstanding performance in DARR, DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE, DIL TO PAGAL HAI, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM etc.
The enthusiasm is getting on to everyone and the verdict would only be out after its release.
