After Bigg Boss shot her to dizzying heights of popularity, Rakhi Sawant has now joined the bandwagon of stand-up comedy shows.

In a daily show called Comedy Ka Badsshah Hasega hosted by Raju Srivastav, the item girl will be seen in a hilarious segment —Hamari Bahu Raakhi.

The act has been designed keeping Rakhi’s popularity in mind. The show begins February 23.


Talent spotting

The show will be a combination of spoofs, gags and a stand-up comedy show, and will also provide a platform for talented youngsters with a flair for comedy to showcase their talent. Optimystix will produce the show for Sony.

Says Vipul Shah, one of the producers of the show, “Raju and Rakhi will be the judges who will select two talents in every episode of the show, who will vie for the crown of the King of Comedy, out of the 47 new talents that we have finalised.”

Item number

Says Srivastav who has done many live shows before with Rakhi all over the country, “Rakhi will play the dutiful albeit sexy bahu who will serve tea to her in-laws but break into an item number, after throwing away her pallu every time the in-laws aren’t around.

Rakhi will also have affairs on the sly while her husband, a seedha-saadha guy keeps karva chauth for her. When her father-in-law touches her inadvertently, she will tell the audience, ‘Sasurji chance maar rahe hai.’

Vipul adds, “Our show will be very different from all the shows which have come on television including The Laughter Challenge. In fact, no other show has been able to give a tough challenge to The Great Laughter Challenge till date.

Unlike Johny Aala Re which couldn’t sustain the interest of the audience though Johny Lever is a great comedian because the content was not good, our show will concentrate on the content; and Raju, who has a wonderful observation, will bring fresh inputs as a comedian.”
