An Internet search in Bollywood actress and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty ’s name reveals her widespread presence in global media.
Over the last ten months, Shilpa has been featured in Indian, American, British, Scottish, African, French, Australian, Pakistani, Spanish, Californian, Singaporean, Afghani, Bangladeshi, New Zealand, Arabic, Irish, Danish, Indonesian, Mexican, Malaysian, Dutch, Vietnamese, Mauritian, Iranian, Italian, Canadian, Russian and German media, spanning six continents (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America) of the world.
“Though Shilpa is popular as ‘the best body in Bollywood’, internationally she is most known to be the ‘Indian beauty with brains’. The way she managed herself in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ made her one of the most-admired icons in United Kingdom. Now, the resounding success of her West End musical ‘Miss Bollywood’ touring Europe, has turned her from actress to diva,” said Shilpa’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar.
“Throughout this year, she’s been one of the most talked-about personalities all over the globe. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Shilpa Shetty has now become the most recognized Indian name in the world. Branding ‘Brand Shilpa’ has been my pleasure,” he added.
Shilpa, who appears to have moved residence to UK temporarily, is nowadays busy promoting her West End musical in London.
And to give the British media a treat, the hot actress appeared at a press meet recently dressed in a glittering pink and silver Bollywood-inspired costume, complete with a crystal-encrusted headdress.
The London press, which is notorious for trashing fashion that doesn’t meet its lofty standards, appeared awestruck by Shilpa’s appearance.
After her UK tour, Shilpa is scheduled to perform in Belgium and The Netherlands, only to return to Britain for a majestic showing of her ‘dancical’ on December 12 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Set against the backdrop of London as it prepares for the 2012 Olympics, the musical combines traditional Indian music with riveting dance sequences that could be entered in the Olympics themselves.
It showcases an amalgamation of dance forms taken from the east and west of India, with Shilpa recapturing on stage some of Bollywood’s greatest hits over the past 40 years.
