A title like SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI makes you curious and interested in the movie instantly. What augments your inquisitiveness is the fact that this one’s not a love story concerning teeny boppers. It doesn’t star any hero with a six-pack, neither is the leading lady a seductress.

The Mumbaiya jargon is incredibly popular and quite a few of its expressions and terminology have become a part of life. As a matter of fact, the term ‘lagi huyi hai’, from which the title of this film LIFE KI TOH LAG GAYI has been obtained, is a universally widespread term.

Some films arrive too late in the day. Not only because they have taken a long time to hit the screens, but also because the original source [THE NOTEBOOK] and also its Hindi inspiration [Ajay Devgn's directorial debut U ME AUR HUM] continue to be fresh to this date. ZINDAGI TERE NAAM, directed by Ashu Trikha, suffers for this reason
Be forewarned: Don’t look for logic here! Escapist cinema or films that suspend logic, but entertain, are often at the receiving end of assessors and evaluators. Despite this, films fitting in the genre [escapist fares] have found colossal consent from spectators across the board, primarily because they serve the purpose of keeping you entertained in those two hours.

Some films take a long time to hit the screens. Resultantly, the story appears obsolete, the gags fall flat and the outcome, therefore, lacks fizz
Is HUM TUM SHABANA a present-day adaptation of David Dhawan’s immensely likeable DEEWANA MASTANA? That’s what a lot of people seem to be asking me online. Call it a coincidence, but two guys chasing one girl isn’t new to Hindi movies.

As a moviegoer, I have grown up on Navketan movies.

Earlier, those revolting against the negative forces would seek shelter in the jungles. But, over a period of time, more and more films with urban themes started getting made and the new poster boys of the have-nots were born and raised in slums and chawls. SHABRI, directed by Lalit Marathe, tells the story of a gangster from the slums

Hollywood has done it. Now Bollywood follows suit.

Dinner table, bed, traffic signal, lounge, multiplex, saloon – These and many more places are what formed various settings for me to read and complete ‘First Day First Show’.

Almost two decades ago, a number of people had reservations when Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ROJA was being dubbed into Hindi. The purists were of the opinion that the essence would be lost in the process. When released, ROJA was hailed by the Hindi speaking audience as well.
A week or two ago, while surfing the TV channels, I chanced upon this immensely enjoyable Govinda starrer that was being telecast for the umpteenth time. Despite the fact that I had watched it time and again, I decided to watch it yet again, complimenting and applauding Govinda’s natural act and comic timing in the movie. That Govinda is a fabulous actor cannot be denied

Many film-makers in the West have focused on the closeted gay, an unassuming person who likes to remain in the shadows. Similarly, a lot many films have captured the trauma and anguish of the bereaved parents when their child is no more. MEMORIES IN MARCH [English; with generous usage of Hindi and Bengali] is not just about the relationship between gay lovers, but also looks at the suffering and pain a mother goes through when her son dies in a road accident
