These days marketing and promoting a film extensively before its release has become almost mandatory. Hence, we were completely taken by surprise when we got to know that the forthcoming Himesh Reshammiya starrer Kajraare has released today (15 Oct) without any fanfare. Yes…you heard it right, Kajraare has released in just 2 cinema halls across India, namely New Empire in Mumbai and Apollo in Pune and that too with just one matinee show at each of these theatres

Time and again one sees director and composer turning out to be a pair, especially so when the ‘jodi’ ends up delivering chartbuster tracks in a row. In the current generation, Rajkumar Hirani has stuck to Shantanu Moitra, Siddharth Anand can’t dream of a soundtrack without Vishal-Shekhar, same holds true for Sujoy Ghosh-Vishal-Shekhar as well, Karan Johar’s favorites were Jatin-Lalit before they split and he moved on to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Farhan Akhtar and Sajid Khan haven’t looked beyond the trio, Rohit Shetty too started off with Vishal-Shekhar but now swears by Pritam while Rakesh Roshan has been inseparable from Rajesh Roshan for obvious reasons

It’s a known fact that Kareena Kapoor is easily ruling from the top as far as the demand for a commercially viable glamorous actress with very good acting skills is concerned.

It was not too long ago when Himesh Reshammiya became the first man from India to perform at the Wembley Arena and Heineken music hall Amsterdam with a packed audience. Now he is thinking bigger and would now be the first International Pop star to be launched globally from India in the mainstream Western music market. The album is titled “at da edge” and has 15 songs written, composed and sung by Himesh.
Last one heard, Karan Johar was still scouting for that face who would go perfectly well for 21st century’s Vijay Deenanath Chauhan. Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan were being spoken about in the same breath but the mystery continues to surround the man who would play the iconic role that immortalised Amitabh Bachchan post Agneepath

Aadesh Shrivastava, who has had the good luck to meet Rafi and play on his songs under several senior composers, puts it simply, “Every song I compose has Kishoreda’s feel and Rafisaab’s gaayaki somewhere within my subconscious mind. And by gaayaki I mean his sharp harkatein, which would be as sharp as the edge of a sword, and everything else.” Aadesh adds, “If you say Mora piya has that ambience, I agree completely. And my semi-classical Baawri piya ki (Baghban) was made with him in mind – 101 per cent! Ravi Chopra, my director, and I discussed this song and we kept saying, ‘Kaash! Agar yeh gaana Rafisaab gaate!’, though Sonu Niigaam was brilliant.

Whatever be the fate of Bollywood films year after year, there is always something consistent about the world of films and that happens to be it’s music. 2009 saw quite a few good soundtracks hitting the stands and 2010 should be no exception with number of diverse films spread across genres. While 2009 was dominated by Pritam, 2010 is pretty much setting the stage for number of top line composers with Vishal-Shekhar and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy also joining in.
