Actress Vidya Balan, who was seen walking the red carpet at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival, will set out for a holiday with husband Siddharth Roy Kapur in France after the movie extravaganza.
Designer Sabyassachi Mukherjee, the man behind styling Vidya Balan’s look at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival, says that as “India is known as a bling country” he used a “little embellishment” to bring freshness. Vidya made three appearances in traditional Indian costumes – maroon lehenga, an ivory sari paired with a brown blouse and light pink anarkali – on three different occasions on the festival inaugural day Wednesday.
This is her third year at the Cannes International Film Festival and actress Sonam Kapoor plans to make a style statement in an Indian outfit at the red carpet there. Starting May 15, the event will see screenings of three Indian movies “Monsoon Shootout” , “Bombay Talkies” and “Dabba” . At the 11-day event India will be the guest country, while Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will join the jury panel at the 66th edition of the festival

Scathing condemnation from his colleagues for questioning the Indian government’s expenditure on international film festivals notwithstanding, producer Sheetal Talwar has gone ahead and filed a Right To Information (RTI) petition requesting details on where and how government money is use to fund what Talwar calls the industry folk’s “flights of fancy…business class” in the garb of promoting Indian cinema.
It was reported a while back that Anil Kapoor, who is the ambassador for The Freedom Project, an organisation working to eradicate slavery and human trafficking, was working on a documentary for the same. The documentary which was made to create awareness about human trafficking in India, called Trapped By Tradition , recently won the Gold Prize in the Cultural Issues category at the New York Festival’s International TV and Film Awards 2012.
